NAKED BATH FROM GLASS IDROMASSAGGIO OF ITALY

At a recent Cersaie show, Glass Idromassaggio, the dynamic wellbeing producer from Italy, presented Naked, a highly original collection of baths designed by Giopato & Coombes.

Versatile and colourful, the Naked baths are furniture objects which can be interpreted and tailored to one's personal taste.

Central to the design is a tempered glass top in 26 contemporary colours, supported by an aesthetic, exposed frame in signal white, iron grey or silk grey finish.

Unlike conventional frames which are generally concealed and serve only to support the bath, the Naked frame is a key, visible element of the design and can be accessorised with several modules.
There is a towel bar module, a shelves module, a fabric storage module and a deck module which transforms the bath into a handy top that exploits the space to the utmost degree, blending beauty with practicality.

The acrylic bath tub has generous dimensions of 1800 x 880mm and, to facilitate varied interior design preferences, is available in gloss white, matt white and striking matt black. Expressing its innovative character in a versatile way, the bath combines with the frame in three alternative versions: overtop - where the bath rim sits proud of the glass top, undertop - where the glass top sits onto the bath rim and a panelled model which encloses the bath while still making a feature of the exposed frame.
The wide range of colours and finishes available for the glass top and the panelling ranging from chocolate brown to cobalt blue and olive green to eastern red, combined with the three aesthetic frame colours and gently tapering bath tub, also with three colour options, makes it possible to achieve original combinations that can be harmoniously integrated in many contexts. Depending on the combinations chosen, Naked can either fit discreetly into the room, enrich it with eye-catching touches of colour or warm it up with pleasant natural shades.

Naked is available as a free-standing, corner or back-to-wall version.

BATHROOM RETAIL, DO WE NEED TO MOVE ON, HOW DO WE MOVE ON

Picture the scene, i,m at home, sat at the breakfast bar, having my tea as we say in Lancashire, and its fair to say that my comments probably refer to the bathroom retail scene in large towns, cities etc.

Its also fair to point out that these are my own opinions, but i do have a unique insight, because i actually sell to other retailers and obviously we share views on the current climate.

So i'm reading my local paper, and i read another flagship furniture store is closing its doors, we lost the last one two years ago, so its got me thinking.

So if all the flagship stores in Bolton, move on or cease trading, what will the town be known for.

Bearing in mind we are in a deep recession, from a showroom owner point of view, surely we have to think outside normal retail practices, but how do we do it, i though of lots of ways, but the stumbling block is always staffing a showroom.

Here's why, couriers, distributors, everything involved with the day to day running of a showroom is based around 9-5 retail hours, yet ( and i speak about my business clients ) most of my target customers all work 9-5 for example and when they finish work we are all shut.

But the internet is still open, how do i/we connect with our target client, how many hours in a day can one person do.

Sundays is becoming a major trading day, how do we/i change my business practices around and still have a life.

I can see all the answers, but cannot impliment them, more over why would i impliment them, what are the benifits to the business owner if i consider myself as a procurer of flagship products

A percentage of Manufacturers of flagship products, don't exactly encorage showroom owners to invest in there showrooms.

So how do we move on.

WHAT IS A POWER SHOWER

WHAT IS A POWER SHOWER

Best to start with what isn't a Power shower.

Electric showers, certainly are not a power shower, but certainly an acceptable form off showering, basically a powerful kettle, pumps cannot be added, apart from water mains supply issues before the shower unit.

Showers off Combi boilers, certainly again are not power showers, however if you have a high power combi boiler, then your assured a great shower, and can be likened to a power shower.

Standard combi boilers with the right shower fittings can produce a really nice shower experience.

Stored hot water systems, such as Gravity and Unvented cylinders provide the best starting point for a power shower.

Hope that makes sense.

Historically a power shower is a combination of a pump, a shower valve ( manual or thermostatic ).

Pumps can range from 1.5bar up to 3bar usually, and for specialist systems, you can have two pumps working together.

This is usually carried out on a gravity system, which is the standard tanks and cylinder in the cylinder cupboard system.

Unvented cylinder, or pressurised cylinders, don't need a pump, this type of showering from a cylinder, solely depends on the incoming water mains pressure.

Water pressures vary from area to area, so best to check you pressure first.
A trained plumber can use a 'Weir Cup' to test the pressure and flow rates, this simple test can save you pounds.

Hope i didn't loose you.

'SALE' OR 'NO SALE'

Sale or No Sale   that is the question ???

The questions i get asked more than anything is 'when are you having a sale'

'Are you having a Boxing Day Sale'

'Are you having a New Year Sale'

Because i like to be transparent,  my answer as always is quite simple ' these are actually bordering on Sale price'

So if your a retailler of the high end brands, then your working with standard terms, unless you buy in bulk.

Bearing in mind your costs to open your doors, pay your staff etc, then their seems little point in opening during the Festive period, because all your gonna get in reality is 'Google'rs,  or 'Best Price' chasers.
I am not against the Internet or Google, its a part of or lives and wouldnt change it, and i have to confess i use google etc to search, its wonderful.

So how do we get stability back in our industry, then we can have proper sales, the answer is simple, standardise RRP, if we have to work with it then lets have an even playing field in the KBB industry , i'm not interested in other industrys.

This has also got to be fair for the consumer too, too many consumers are fooled by the Sheds, TV campaigns offering ficticious discounts, whilst the retailers with brands are shackled to a set RRP.

Why doesn't trading standards have a look into this problem, surely this practice is deception, because its fooling the consumer into believing that cheaper products have a high starting price.

I think 2013 will be a tough one, but i have adapted my showroom to at least compete at all levels, and to a degree its sensible move, but its just not my style.

Personally RRP should be dropped, then we all have to work for a sale, rather than just give a discount as someone walks through a door.
